WestLink announces Mobile Internet Data service plans for PDA (smart phones) and laptop computers.
WestLink's Mobile Internet Data service helps you make the most of
your smartphone with nationwide, on-the-go internet access to
websites, email and your favorite social network, along with
thousands of useful add-on applications. All WestLink Mobile Internet Data Plans and data service packages
include nationwide data coverage.
WestLink Mobile Internet data plans
- $25.00/month - 2 Gig per month Nationwide Data.
- $1.50/megabyte overage charges
- $15.00/month - 200 MB per month Nationwide Data.
- $1.50/megabyte overage charges
- $6.00/month - 10 MB per month Nationwide Data.
- $1.50/megabyte overage charges
WestLink Mobile Internet data plans require a smart phone, a voice plan with roaming enabled. PDA data plans require
voice service. Adding or changing a data plan on an existing service line does not affect contract length. Purchasing
a subsidized smart phone does affect contract length. Restrictions apply see store for details.

The following data estimates are examples only
The examples below will provide you an idea of data usage. Attachment sizes will vary dramatically.
- Uploading a picture to your social network or sending a an average resolution photo via email = 1Meg
- Watching a UTube Video = 2 Meg per minute
- 1 hour on an IM session= 1Meg
- Watching a film Trailer=10 Meg
- MP3 Download=4 Meg
- Listening to Internet Radio=1 Meg per minute
- 1 Hour of Web browsing = 20 Meg or ½ hour per day = 300 Meg per month
- 1000 one or two sentence emails without attachments = 1 Meg
Recommendations
WestLink’s 200 Megabytes of data per month will take care of the casual and moderate data user. For heavier data users,
the 2 Gig plan may be required. If you are not sure what your data usage will be with your new WestLink Smartphone,
we recommend that you start with our 2 Gig per month data plan. You can monitor your usage and move down to the 200 Meg
plan if that plan fits your data usage

- 2K - Forwarding that simple 1 to 4 sentence email to another person.

- 80K - Sending or receiving an email with a couple page text document.
- 85K - Sending or receiving a screen image of a webpage.
- 130K - Viewing a web page in condensed format
- 185K - Sending or receiving a 5 Page PDF Document
- 280K - Viewing a typical Webpage in standard version format
- 500K - Sending or receiving an email with 10 Joke Pictures included.
